Default what cam with prc 5.3 stg2.5?

got the heads need the cam to work well with the heads. looking for a cam that will make have best of all worlds, low, mid and upper power and that is still streetable but that's people know that there's something in there. looking at the texas speed 228r 114lsa and vengeance cams similar to texas speed 228r . what combos did you guys use with these heads.

I think either the MS3 or MS4 is popular with those heads.

I have the heads with the TR224/224 @ 114

great street combo.

TSP torquer V.3 made 440 to the wheels through A4 at the local shop with H/C, stock catback, great tune. Not to mention the stock like driveability and wonderful under the curve power!

a buddy of mine made about 430whp/42x tq with a TSP 233/239 Cam. And of course he had bolt-ons. LT's and an LT6 intake are a big plus with this combo if you don't already have them.Numbers were on a mustang dyno, btw.

A very popular cam with those heads is the MS3. Exactly what I went with!

The 228R camshaft is a great cam. We've seen a4 cars make over 400rwhp with PRC heads. I personally like the Torquer 3 camshaft. It makes a good bit more power than the 228R camshaft, but it doesn't idle nearly as good as the 228R camshaft. I guess it really depends on your ultimate goals for the car

my goal for a cam would be driveability around town and to be efficient. but i want a cam that when driving around town i give it some gas the car goès off, kicks the tires out and when im on the highway the cam still comes on strong when i want it to. the car is mostly a d/d and will see the 1/4 mile maybe a hand full of times, and i'm not in to cams that have a lopey/choppy idle that when leaving a stop light you need to rev it up to get it going without stalling. the ms3/4 and torquer cams sound good and the tuners can most likely make them streetable to, but doing that will hold the cam back wouldn't? like the 228r, still seems a real good all round cam for a d/d and will make it more of a sleeper which i like.

228r would be an awsome cam i think that would fit you best, very good street manners but done with good heads and supporting mods you are looking at 420rwhp+ in a six speed car.

here is an example:
'02 Z28 M6
PRC stg 2.5 5.3heads-224/228 114+2-pacesetters

I have the ms3 2.5 5.3 combo and an M6, with spirited driving and 4.10...mixed driving, i get in the mid/upper 17mpg, i would imagine, if i took it easy i could get near 20...with the 3.42 gear it got near the same MPG...maybe closer to mid 18's...

Torquer V3 or MS3 would get my vote. Especially the Torquer.

Sorry about that, But damn good numbers i was shocked when you did not hit 400rwhp with the shorties but those numbers now are killer. Now i just need to get that setup.
