LS2 cam vs LS6 cam ideas?(with x1.8rockers on #799 heads)
Hi was just looking for some advice.
Would there be any performance benifit to getting the LS6 cam over an LS2 cam?
The engine will be a 4" stroked LS3 with #799 heads (x1.8 rockers) with an LS2 intake (w NW90 tb)
I have already have an LS2 cam, but was originally looking for the lS6 because of the higher lift I thought it would give me a higher hp value while still being a very easy to tune, cam. Will the potential gains be worth it?
I will be trying to use the LS1 ecm with the engine, and tuning options are quite limited here, so the only good bet is to get the ecm mail tuned by someone like wait4me to give me the best chance of a good out of the box tune (so the engine can be safely broken in, a decent chance of passing emissions over here if I need, and then maybe get a cam later.
P.S. I am getting a engine built in England, but have been buying the parts myself. The #799 heads and the x1.8 rockers came with the block and I don't want to spend more money if I don't need to so I am sticking to them, I will be running with 11:1 scr.

The LS2 cam is a Z06 cam (2001), (204/211 .525/.325 116 LSA)
If you get another Z06 cam make sure it is 02>04 (204/218 .551/.551 117.5 LSA)
Also make sure you have 02+ springs since you are running 1.8 rocker

Thanks,
Yeah it would be a '5308' cam I would be looking for. I will be using some PAC 1218s for springs.
Was really curious to see what people thought the cam might be worth?

Just curious:
Would you expect that kind of gain (of 8 rwhp for '5308' cam over the ls2) even on a larger cube engine? say on a 416?
I think I right here in saying that with the x1.8 rockers,
the LS2 cam becomes 0.556/0.556
the LS6 cam would be 0.583/0.583
Does the extra lift not make that much difference?
I guess at the same time as seeing if the LS6 cam is worth it I would be curious to see what people might think about how much power the engine might produce?
