Default Dual Springs Noisy?

Hello all,

Can you please confirm to me that dual springs make tapping noise ? especially at idle.

Is it normal?

Because it's really loud compared to stock. It sounds like the two springs are hitting each other for every dual valve spring.

Thanks

Most dual springs are noisy. Some are not. It is not by the type, but individual car. Mine are noisy.

Maybe from the back, but not from the front. Maybe you have lifter noise.

I'm running the AFR #8019 dual springs, my valvetrain is smooth and pretty quite, considering all that is in there.

My valvetrain is noisy when hot, when cold it's very quiet.

Why there is a variation ?

What cam are you running. Aggressive lobes will snap the valves open and shut very quickly adding to valvetrain noise.

There are many contributors to valve train noise but most often the sewing machine noise is because the preload is off. If you take your time and get your preload to .080 - .100 you will have a nice quiet valve train. It won't be quite stock sounding but it won't clatter like so many do now.

I'm running TR224. The noise I have might be OK, I'm not so sure about it..

It's comming from inside the headers for sure which is why I'm so confused about it.

A lot has to do with what a person considers noisey too. I have heard a lot of cars noiser than mine.

I seriously doubt the cam has anything to do with it. Especially such a small cam.

I have a T-Rex with patriot dual golds, and mine is quiet. So I really don't thinik it is the cam. That has very aggressive lobes and lots of lift. I think you have more problems. I'm still thinking lifters. Have they ever been done?

My springs are quiet, but my lifters are suspect. Patriot Gold Duals here with a TR224 Cam on 7.4 pushrods. Looking to do a head swap soon so will see how the lifters are the cause or not.

Stock lifters, high oil pressure, .651 lift on my cam and patriot golds. No valve train noise that i can detect. Preload is set at about .090-.100.
