Default Oil pressure at idle

I plan on sticking a mechanical gauge on it to see what the real pressure is, but on the stock gauge what is the first tick mark? Like halfway between 40 and 0? 20?

No, I'm asking what the first tick mark represents.

40 is half. half of 0 and 40 is twenty. maybe i just dont understand the question. i mean obviously my first response wasn't from the numbers written on the gauge

Thanks. Cold mine is 62, hot it's getting to be hovering around 20 at idle.

Time to try a longer filter, true mechanical gauge and cut open the existing filter. I had a finger nails worth of sludge on the magnetic drain plug last oil change; new motor has 6K on it. If I have a problem I want to find it now.
