Rev duals vs. 918's.
Anyone know what lift rev duals are good to? And are they better than the 918's for the MTI X1 cam? 230-227, .591-.571. Basically, which springs are the best way to go?

REV duals art good to .625 and 918's are good to .600. I think you could use either one of those without a problem. The inner spring is just there to keep the valve up if the main spring breaks. Consider it piece of mind. And believe me when I tell you it does its job. Saved my ***.
Whether or not one is better than the other, I'm not going to get into. Some like one. Some like the other.

If you are looking at duals check out the new Crane dual. It blows the REVs away. For the record I like the 918 better than the REV. I've never seen a problem with one and they spec out more consistantly.

Do the vendors carry them yet? Where can I read about them? Part number?
You are going to need:
40-144832-16 Crane valvesprings
40-144661-16 Crane Ti. retainers
40-144460-16 Crane spring seat/locator
11-VS-UV5001-EO LS1 valve stem seals
I have had excellent results with the 918s in the past and will continue to use them. However, these new Crane duals for the stock spring pocket are another option for those looking for the piece of mind of a double spring. I would run either of these long before the Rev 1116 spring.

I haven't heard much from Crane in the LS1 arena. I see they sell some stuff for us.
All I want is a reliable dual-spring to fit the stock pocket which will prevent further engine damage if a spring breaks. Or for somebody to install a 'Change Valvesprings' idiot light in my instrument cluster which illumincates a few thousand miles before one breaks

Went to cranecams.com or whatever their site is, isted under springs way down the page is the new LS1 dual spring.
It does not use a damper, it is stock diamter, has a matching Ti Retainer (no ****). Holds 352lbs open and good for .650" lift, uses stock valve stem locks as well. Not sure what color they are? Anything else, hummmm I believe Thunder has them.

MTI sells a kit that has springs and retainers...since the x1 is a Lunati Cam, they recommend Manley Springs...I had this same question a couple of weeks ago...the manley springs they offer have a little more strength than 918's and cover the same amount of travel - .600 You wont have any problems with the manley springs they recommend.....although...I do recommend changng the springs after 20000 miles for safety reasons(unless its a track car..then do it every 10000)treat it like a maintenance item.
