Default a/f ratio on LS1's/LS6's etc

what do you guys tune your LS1's and such to? idle, cruise and wot? i know on the supra motors we did 14.7 cruise and idle and WOT full boost, 11.5's

i wasn't sure if NA motors or higher compression motors were any different.

thanks for any insight!

Thumbs up

Somewhere between 12.5 and 13.1 for NA... no richer and no leaner IMO.

Edit: What I posted was for WOT, and I forgot to mention 14.68 (14.7) for cruise.

14.7 for idle and normal part throttle, 12.8 for WOT (PE mode) - I've altered the tune to roll into PE mode quicker though for best overall response.

awesome

have you guys tuned your idle and cruise to mid- high 15's? would it still run right? do you save any gas MPG doing so?

thanks for the WOT a/f (i'll shoot for ~12.8) when i get my LS1

14.7 is the ideal A/F for ANY car... however.... I myself run on the rich side a little because I wanted a little "safer" tune... as do most people on here... for the most part I think you'll find anywhere between 13.0-13.5 to be acceptable...

Normal driving 14.681 (stoich for gasoline NA engines)

Low load, low RPM cruise 16.5 (04 GTO running lean cruise)

radkon- what is your gas MPG with your car tuned at 16.5 vs. 14.7?

just curious how much difference it makes...

off topic but i have a toyota landcruiser (12-14 mpg) and i wanted to lean it out to see if i can get any better gas mileage out of this tank. lol

i need to get a wideband first and see what the a/f ratio is looking like right now.

Its at 14.68 for most of the range, its only at 16.5 at 40+ mph and very low load (flat land cruising) so I can only compare instant mpg readings. Without lean cruise I saw about 28 MPG Instant readings, with lean cruise I see about 37 MPG readings. On my last distance cruise (200+ miles) I got 26.8 MPG avg with the air on, this was on fairly flat terrain. Overall I think its about a 15% improvement on hwy cruising.

I've seen my 15 mile one way commute (60% hwy 40% city) avg go from 18.2 mpg to 19.6 mpg.
