Default Cam experts come inside...

I want a cam that will make good power with stock or mildly ported heads for a '99 auto Z28 and sound stock. It must also be nitrous friendly. What should I get?

Nitrous?? stick to a slightly more mild cam...unles you plan on doing some real head work...stick with around a 224 and you'll get some good results...If you go bigger like a 230 then you will need some good head porting/polishing...and some dual springs....
dont forget to get tuned before you go racing that thing with NOS on it.

The only way to choose a cam is to do a bunch of research on what people like and what their results were. Some things like "stock sounding" are relative, but spending some time reading old cam threads should give you alot of insight.

Do the research and choose your own cam. There are no magic bullets, and knowing that you made a well informed decision is far better than knowing you trusted what a few folks told you you would like on the internet.

I will note though that with nitrous and also with stock-ish heads, you will want a traditional split cam with around 6 degrees more exhaust duration than intake. Something like the 218/224 on a 114 from Thunder Racing is a safe bet.

Thanks. I know that I'm gonna need more exhaust duration to get rid of all the extra exhaust from the nitrous use but I want my car to sound as smooth as stock. Races are getting too hard to find when you got an LS1 around here as it is.
