Default Cam Timing ???

can i degree my cam with the heads on? when im doing this with the weak check sprigs i get 17 After TDC @ .50 lift when my cam card says 6 before TDC....

Are you using the intake centerline method? Did you get TDC at the crank set correctly?

no my cam card does not have intake centerline num (MS3).. and yes its at tdc corretly..

Aslong as your not preloading the valve springs for 0 lash, and the lifters not absobing the pushrod/dial indicator setup as you roll it over to .050, it should read close to 6* (+/-) .5* or so. Or cam is ground incorrectly.

hmm im lost cause when its at 0 lash the timing is futher off.. retarded.. but with the rocker torqued down its less.. <-not sure if thats the way to do it but??? I advanced my cam gear 2 teeth and now @ .50 lift im at 0* TDC. that does not seem corect to me for the cam to be that far off..
