Default need cam help

Ok so heres the deal .. I want a cam that will boost my hp a little but not a ton. Right now the car is my DD and I dont want to lose too much gas mileage or have too gnarly of a drive. I am looking at a Z06 cam pushrod and spring package thats $250. What kind of gains would I be looking at with this new set up and would it even work in my car, car in sig? Thanks for all yalls help.

I sound like a broken record at the moment but look into the GM Hotcam

219/228 .525/.525 112LSA

Easy on the valvetrain, great daily driver, sounds mean.
Some guys getting 390rwhp cam-only.
Only .525 lift and designed to work with yellow LS6 springs ($60) so you don't need 918 springs and pushrods.
It's not a drag racing cam thats for sure but is designed to work with stock heads

Ignore the haters

Thats true, but the ASA cam runs on the LS6 springs as well and puts out better #'s. Fwiw, I get 22mpg with a 50/50 mix of hwy and city driving.
ASA 226/236 .525/.525 110lsa

GMPP Hotcam or GMPP ASA cams dumdumdum!

I will add this though about the ASA cam- it requires a really free-flowing exhaust. A crappy ory w/ a catback may hold back some hp compared to the hotcam. These aren't my words, I did my homework on this cam before I got it and the techs at GM really emphasized this. I'm running stepped headers w/ 3" td's. I've noticed that I'm putting down a few more hp than others with similar setups, the only difference being exhaust. So I have to assume the guys that designed the cam know what they are talking about!

So why is it that these cams are able to put down very similar numbers to larger cams like 224R and even 228R from the looks of it? They seem to have smaller duration and less lift but still make awesome cam only power, how?

They are designed to work with GM's LS6 heads

Everyone talks packages now.... thats what GMPP did with this series of cams/heads, they specced cams to suit what they had at the time. Not to give themselves or their mates a hard-on by being able to claim the biggest lift or the longest duration. Just what works

OK but I believe the cams yall have listed are about 250+new, which excludes the springs, pushrods, etc. I can get all for 250. I am short on cash and dont have a lot to spend but want more power. For the price would this be a good investment for the next couple of years. In a few years I plan on switching out engines anyway.

Not to be a cynic but the guys who usually post their #'s on here are usually at the high end of what you can expect. See it day in/day out. Any TSP /TR/224/224 cam will beat the $h!t out of a Hotcam period!!!!!!! Depends on what you want

I really thought i would get 430rwhp+ out of my setup but so what It's still fun as hell and there are a couple of folks who won't ride with me anymore but that is mainly due to Sam Strano

Are you an A4 car? What size combustion chambers are you running? what sort of dyno were you tuned on?
EDIT...Never mind, just saw the stall in your sig, kinda answers that question. Those are pretty good numbers for an auto.

here you go here is a link with a dyno. https://ls1tech.com/forums/showthrea...=894655&page=2 I would expect about 20 horsepower but none of it under the curve. It will only gain power from 5,700 on up to about 6,500. But you really dont need a tune just your limiter bumped to 6,500. That type of power for that price is hard to beat. Also you can get regrind (fresh copy) hotcams and asa cams on ebay for $100 but then you need springs and a tune. Also get the 02+ zo6 cam because it will give you more power. If you have any more questions and i dont get back to this thread in a few days you can pm them to me and i will do my best to help you out.
