Default Cartek H/C package or internet BS

Hey guys check out this post on rx7club. I think it is BS but he claims 472 RWHP on a H/C car. Does this package exist?? If so why isnt there more talk about it?

Here is the link
http://www.rx7club.com/forum/showthr...10#post2113610

and here are his "claims"
"My mods are:

-Cartek X package (P/P heads and very aggressive Comp cam)
-FLP L/T headers w/offroad pipes (no cats)
-Vararam Intake (with VR-1B filters)
-Ported TB
-Hypertech 160 degree T-stat
-ASP underdrive pulley
-Cartek clutch
-NGK plugs and wires
-LS1 edit tuned

472 RWHP/441 RWTQ

The car is tuned exceptionally well, such that it has a surprising amount of low-end torque for an H/C car with a very hot cam. Over 3200 RPMS and the power under the curve is just downright impressive all the way up to when the motor spins dry at about 7100."

Didnt think a heads/cam car could spin to 7100 either.

I don't know; those numbers seem kinda high for a motor on an LS6 intake... the Vararam is (to my knowledge) a brand of air bridge/air filter setup for C5's, so it doesn't seem like he's talking about the intake manifold.

I'm not gonna ring the bullshit bell (I have no way of proving it if I did), but I'd have to see the dyno pulls in person before I'd be a believer; that torque seems ~20 lb/ft higher than other big number H/C cars.

Not a bash on the guy making the claims, nor a bash on Cartek... just wondering if the car was on pump gas, was short belted, etc...

Nah, he's just some guy running off at the mouth on an RX7 forum because those guys don't know any better. He's not over here running that line of bull$hit is he? Of course not. He'd get called on that immediately. Furthermore, 470+ NA HP on on 346 cubes is noteworthy, if he wasn't pushing the dyno sheet, Cartek would be.

Furthermore, if you read up that thread a little bit, he also claims his car dyno'ed 356/347 RWHP bone stock. LOL.. Crack kills

if you read more, you will see he has a Z06, and not a LS1

I dont know that does seem kinda high for a heads/cam package.I just think that guy is running his mouth trying to get attention on that forum. If it is true I want to see his dyno sheet and flow #'s for those heads.

I may have misread that, when he said "my stock Z" I naturally assumed Z-28. You may be right about that Z-06 thing, he was giving a lot of info on them and such.

To be honest though, I don't really care enough to go back and read it to find out.. He's either making the power or he isn't. I'm sure that he's not doing it on a stock bottom end F-body. But either way, it's not going to keep me up nights.

I hate to say it, but Cartek does have a 474 RWHP H/C package. Yes, 474 not 472. I don't know about the guy in that thread, but this was in a Zo6 vette. Go to www.ls1.com and go to the search engine. Search the LS1 engine/header/y-pipe section for "tekhombre". This is Julio from Cartek. He posted the results about 2-3 months ago. There is a dyno graph also. Not to unbelievable considering people using the "big" ASA cam and the GMPP CNC LS-6 heads are makin 480+ at the wheels.

I believe 470rwhp is possible with a h/c setup, there have been some postings of that here (along with significant debate) from a couple of shops. I dont believe the torque though. The most ive seen from any stock displacement car is 417. If the car is supposedly making that kind of torque, I seriously question the validity of those results.

1) Its a huge cam
2) Why would it being a "Z06" make the test invalid? An LS6 is basically an LS1 with LS6 heads. People put LS6 heads on LS1's all the time, therefore its a perfectly valid heads/cam combo for an LS1 IMO.
3) I beleive that on their dyno, they dyno'd exactly what they are claiming.
4) A heads/cam car can spin up to whatever you want to spin it up to. Depends on how risky you want to be with the bottom end, and how good your springs are.

It's not BS at all go over to the Corvetteforum and look up a guy by the Screen Name kh24. He owns a 2002 Red ZO6. If you do a search in the C5 Tech/Perf. forum with kh24 as the creator you'll find his dyno graph. And he has backed up these numbers at the track I'm pretty sure he was running low 11's the first couple of times out with the car.

Wouldn't this guybe running stock manifolds? There's no room for some large long tubes I would think.

No room for long tubes?? Why not?? Everybody makes long tubes for camaros and vettes. Its not like the motor is physically bigger.
JMX, the car stated in the thread on LS1.com had a 224/228 hydro. Not really that huge unless it was some bigger than normal lift.

I think that jmX thought it was in an RX7. I guess some guy with a Z06 is dropping his LS1 pants on the RX7 board to show up a few small japanese cars.

I love you guys, I really do, but I gotta say, the idea of he-said/she-said over some guy bragging in a rice forum is kind of a snore.

By the way, JMX, I picked up on that Cartek dyno dig.

No, i dont think it was in an RX7, its in a Z06. There's tons of people on corvette forum that have cartek stuff and have dyno'd very high numbers at cartek. Its not a secret or even a suprise anymore.

1999SSM6, what dig? It was more of a warning that every dyno does read a little different.

Beast96, I hadn't caught that the cam was that small..thats impressive. I'd heard the 474rwhp car had flycut pistons and had a very large cam, but I suppose I was mistaken.
