Default Stock Valve Spring Height vs Aftermarket?

I am upgrading from stock valve springs to PRC dual valve springs and wanted to know if there is a difference in the height of the springs and if this would cause me to need a different length of pushrod or is there not a very bigg difference?

I am going LS6 camshaft and am already going to need to mill my heads .030" so I can keep my stock pushrod length of 7.400" so just needing to know if I should take this into consideration before I have it done.

Guessing im comparing the installed height.

Thanks

Mike

Installed spring height will not affect pushrod length.

Yeah when you think about it your valve is the same length and has to travel the same length to close so it cant allow the spring to sit any higher. Patriot gold springs are like a 1/4" taller than the stock springs uncompressed i did notice that when i was installing mine.

I have measured 7.385". I would personally buy an adjustable pushrod and measure to make sure of the pushrod length. Pushrods should be your last purchase.

7.380. Any after market cam is going to require at minimun 7.400 for correct preload. Most agressive lift lobes require the cam to be ground with a smaller base circle and require even longer pushrods. I am running 7.450

ima be running an LS6 cam with LS7 Lifters, so what do you guys recommend? Should stock pushrods work fine?

If the stock ones are 7.380 and Im needing to make up the .025" difference in the base circle of the LS6 cam, means id have to mill my heads .025" or get 7.400" pushrods. Im going to be using LS7 lifters which seem to be more shallow so maybe they add .005"

What would you guys recommend. Another guy on the boards said hes running an LS6 cam with 241's milled .030 with 7.400" pushrods.

Get the 7.4 pushrods. The stock pushrods will **** a brick with the load of a dual spring.

Im not sure that would happen with a mild cam like the LS6, but I guess the springs would put more pressure on the pushrods. Prob go with hardened ones then.

yea when I first got mine up and going all I had was the stock pushrods with the dual springs. I drove it maybe 100 miles and never hit over 4k and noticed the valvetrain was getting really loud. When I pulled the stock pushrods out almost all of them had a slight bend from the added spring pressure. The stockers are really weak even with the single behive spring.
