popular lq4 builds cam help please.
Heres the story. I have a 86 street strip s10 wich had a nasty 408 smc chevy than ran 680 on motor. I took the motor out and sold it to a freind. I have a 04 lq4 and already have a msd 6010 gm single plane intake. the truck weighs about 2800 or so. it has a th350 4000 stall 9 inch w/410. 26/10/15 mt. I dont want to do a h/c as of yet but would like to put A cam in it. would like to hear what kind of numbers these put out w/ cam only and h/c combo. the motor has 317 heads on it. would like to run on pump gas not fly cut pistons etc. please list your combo or cam ideas. did search but not what I was looking for. thanks.

thanks I have a gm single plane now. just stuck on cam might see what patrick g thinks. i was gonna run the comp xr281hr. is this was a old 400 sbc I know how to make these run. keep it coming. I saw in hotrod or somewhere the put the hot cam in and made 480 or so. but would rather get cam suited for the rest of the truck. the truck will be a weekend truck 50/50 track use.

there's a guy on here making 385whp through a 6 spd and 10 bolt with a rock stock lq4 longblock, ls6 intake, and something like a 232/234 cam. since you're using a single plane i'd use something in the 236/242 duration range, as the stock lq4 bottom will not like much more rpm than about 7k.
i think you could get a 2800lb vehicle to run 680 at the slowest with that setup and a healthy cam. the 9.5:1 compression isn't that big of a deal given the cubes, you'll still make great tq and great hp up top with a big cam and single plane.
good luck.
