Default Patriot LS6 or 5.3 heads?

Wondering if someone could give a little input on whether I should go with the patriot LS6 2.5 heads or the 5.3 stage 2.5 heads? Mods are as follows...

XER273HR-114 224/230 .581/.592 114lsa
Vig 3200
LS6 Manifold
Hooker 1 3/4" Longtubes

The car is a '98 Trans Am with the stock shortblock and heads currently. Looking to pick up a new set of heads and on a budget. Any input guys?

Mine made 428/395, You should easilly get into the 400's with either the ls6 or the 5.3.

General rule of thumb L6's will put down a little more on the top and 5'3's will make a little more torque down low. Keep in mind there are exceptions. Setup is the key...

SOMbitch is an auto making 417/383 with a 3600 stall. Just look around at how many people are running 5.3 heads. There is a reason for it.

I would prob get the 5.3's for your setup. I would get PRC's instead of Patriot's IMO. I have heard they flow a little better. Dont know if thats true, but that's what I have been told.

I actually looked into this when I was getting my H/C setup. The patriot heads when fully assembled cost a little more(if I remember correctly) and flowed just a little bit less. You also get more from texas speed when you buy the package deal for the same price as heads only when you buy the patriots.

I have the 59cc ls6 patriot heads and am really happy with them. i do not have dyno numbers, but i have beat a c6 vette from a roll and break the tires loose from a 40 punch with new tires. I am not sure if they are better than the 5.3 heads but they are a definate noticable upgrade from the stock 98 heads. For the money i spent i am really happy.Good luck with the combo you choose.

frito1 I have been using a small shop out in olathe for quite awhile. they are pretty good but turn around time always seems to be slow and price rather steep for what seems like is actually getting done. i think this site is a little picky about throwing shop names around if they aren't a sponsor so ill shoot u a pm.
