Looking for 500bhp.
I'm looking to get 500-525 horsepower at the flywheel with my 99 vette. I'm wondering if it's possible to achieve this goal with the fallowing mods:
PRC 5.3 stage 2.5 heads
TS 224R camshaft
LS6 intake manifold
TS Longtube Headers
Vararam VR-3 Velocity Stack
My current mods on the car is a Vararam VR-B2 air intake and Magnaflow Magna-pack exhaust with x-pipe.

Look at mods in sig and add roughly 17% for DT loss for bwhp and figure. I thought I would be in the 430's rwhp so I'm not that short but not quite what I hoped. I thought the Fast 90/90 would get me there. Different day different dyno who knows. I spin too bad bad all the way through first to get an accurate track time so who knows??? I think you will need better heads and/or bigger cam. FWIW my cam drives like stock once it's warmed up but is kinda ill SOMETIMES when cold. 111LSA can be cranky I guess??
GOOD LUCK

with that set up 400 rwhp is more like it. I have a similar set up and I am just over 400. ( 243 heads, )
If your shooting for 500 you will need some AFR205s( 59 cc) , ported & polished Fast 90/90 or 92/92 LG Pro LTs, Borla 3" Off road X pipe straight pipes, no cats no mufflers. and a the LGX4 cam, PP Oil pump, underdrive pulley.
and a great single air intake CAI ( take the V-ram off. that has hurt more HP seekers then helped.)
Double air intakes cause too much air turbulence going into the tb and slows down the air velocity and reduces hp
Then a BIG radiator too keep things cool. Possible an accu-sump and oil cooler too.
Dont mean to bust your bubble, but NA 500 IS BIG power out of an 99 LS1 block

I have emission test where I live, so i'm not going to rip off my mufflers or cats. Also wouldn't adding a Fast 90mm throttle body give me worst gas mileage?
I forget to mention I'll be adding 36lb fuel injector from Fast.

500 flywheel hp is definately doable with that combo. Infact I have a engine dyno sheet for you that will prove it. We dyno testing tons of different combinations & the 5.3l head was installed with many different camshafts to test power output. Give us a call in the morning & we can fax you a complete engine dyno sheet of our engine dyno motor making 530ish flywheel hp & 460lb ft of torque with out of the box PRC 5.3l stage 2.5 heads.
I have tons of dyno sheets from several camshafts close to what your looking at. Give us a call & we can help you choose a combo that will do what you want to do at a very affordable price!!

Why did you choose 500hp for a goal? I'm just trying to understand the significance of "500 hp" and what it means to you. Everyone is enamoured with 500hp lately....
500 hp isn't tangible to me, its a number that any dyno guy can make any graph say.
And why is your sig so freaking long?? six word responce, 50 lines of large font text in your sig. Mine honeslty takes up as much space so I cant say to much, but at least I have some pics, links, and something everyone should learn. Nothing about any mods ive done looking for attention. I must be cranky tonight..lol

Give us a call if you'd like the engine dyno sheet from this combo, 500 flywheel hp is no problem with the 224 or 228r camshafts.
