Default 228r or torquer v2 AGAIN - pt4000 3.73 auto

Well just got the car 2 weeks ago or so, ready to order some more mods. I'm just going to get to it to keep this first post short.

The car-

2000 z28
performabuilt lvl2, yank pt4000 stall
ls6 intake
3.73
WILL BE HEADERS/ORY/FULL BOLTONS

Will be full weight, street car only. I'll take out jack/spare, etc, but nothing drastic. Daily driven (when I want to - have other vehicles for snow/rain). Plan on running test and tunes, few races in sportsman just to try my luck.

Plan on ordering everything very soon (when I get my truck or bike sold). Cam kit, ported ls6 oil pump, ls2 timing chain, arp rod bolts, headers/ory, plugs/wires, etc. Just going to drop the k-member and do everything at once to keep it easy. Will be doing a mail order tune to get the car going then drive it to TSP for a dyno session.

What I'm looking for is just a baby cammed quick street car, on stock shortblock. Don't really plan on spinning it too high, etc. I'm pretty set on the 228r, the only reason I'm considering the torquer is because of the big stall the car already has.

Also, how much of a gain would I see going with a set of 2.5 5.3 heads on the 228r if I went that route? I am deciding between h/c or cam only. If I go the torquer route, it would be h/c most likely.

Sorry for posting this again, I'm just not sure what to do with my situation. The car is 95% street driven, never really on the highway. Just want to beat up on some local cars. Thanks

I figured that would be the consensus. Anyone else?

How well does the tv2 work with stock heads?

TV2 get's my vote as well. I had a 3500 stalled A4 car with a 225/225 112 and wanted more verter and more cam!

torquer 2 gets my vote.

not sure how it would dyno with that stall, but i know on m6 cars the cam come in around 400rwhp with boltons....give or take

with heads you should be sitting pretty on 430rwhp.

I'm not really concerned about dyno numbers.. just wanthing something fun. Race it on the strip once in a while and just play around in town. With this converter I'll never dyno high so I'm not going to be worried about it.

Torquer will make about 4-5rwhp over the 228R. I have dyno sheets from engine dyno testing your welcome to checkout & study. Both camshafts work really well IMHO. I like the torquer on the 112 lsa in that application.

I saw the thread talking about doing all of the testing, but haven't found any of the dyno info really. Where is it posted at? I'll look for it.. haven't checked the boards yet this weekend.

Why not go with the torquer v.3? Thats what I have and like it a lot. I have it in an a4 with a pt3800 and it works really well.

The V3 is not completely ruled out, but I'm wanting something with a *FAIRLY* smooth idle. I don't want to have to deal with a lot of surging or issues with driving the car. I want something fairly easy on the valvetrain that will work well with stock heads and stock shortblock. If I go bigger, I'll probably be upgrading the heads as well.

I want to be able to hop in it, run fast, DD to work if I need to, and be friendly enough that anyone can drive it (GF, lol). Picky, yes.

I'm open to all suggestions.

I'd like to know this as well since it'll be similar to what I'm trying to do.
