Depends on why you took them off.....

Blown head gasket due to overheating=you may want to get them resurfaced.

Lifter tick and took them off to check=put them suckers right back on

carefully clean off the surface with a plastic scraper and then use a straightedge to make sure the surface isnt warped. if they are straight clean them up and put em back on, with new gaskets of course

I took them off because I was doing my ms4 cam swap and was using the pen magnets to hold the lifters but when I stuck the first one in there the tip stuck to the lifter immeditely falling off I was like "WTF NOOOOOOO" but that is the only reason why I am taking them off but the car was running perfect.

anyway good thing I had my engine out already since I am going to change my stall converter I took the engine out from the top of the car.

another dilema when the tip broke a very very small piece of metal maybe less than a quater inch and very thin that held the tip in the pen magnet fell somewhere in to the engine but we are just tearing it all apart to make sure it is no hiding anywhere since we alredy have it all apart we might also pull the crank just to check everywhere any suggestions are welcome

If your going to remove the crank, add some insurance by putting in some better rod bolts. Hopfully you don't have to tear it down that far, that sucks!
