Default Who makes an off the shelf 4.185" piston?

I am thinking of doing a 440 stroker out of my LS3 engine using the Dorton MID system. I think the most you can bore those is 4.200". I would like to get one rebuild out of it so I figured a 4.185" piston would be the ticket. I talked to Diamond and they say it would be a full custom. I am not loyal to any brand of piston as long as it will take a 250 shot. Do any of the piston companies make what I want. It would be for a 4" stroke with 6.125" rods.

You are asking for a fairly rare piston. With all the dome/dish options, I would not be surprised to not find any company with what you want on the shelf. I would try wiseco next. If you went to a 4.160 I think you would have more luck. Personally I would stay at 4.160 for the safe cleanup on the sleeve. 4.200 is maxing it way out. 4.160 would give you room to have a minor issue and get it rebored and be ok. 4.185 may not be. If you think about the bore size on even the most badass heads for LSX motors, they are usually setup for 4.125-4.13 max. So again, you really arent going to benefit there from the airflow in bore szie increase.

Thanks. That is the answer I was looking for. I thought some one was making off the shelf 4.160" pistons. That would still give a 434 or so. I have the heads that will benefit from a larger bore but I don't want to spend the money to only get 10 or so ci over my 416. I am trying to use what I have save for the pistons to keep the cost down and I don't want the extra weight of the LSX block up front in a Vette. I have enough problems with traction as it is. I just really want to make more tq and pick up a decent amount of hp. I am looking to go 9's NA.
