torquer 2 cam which heads?
my dad has a 01 ss with the TSP torquer 2 cam on a 112 lsa+2. he also has full bolt ons. he asked me to put a good set of heads on his car but i'm kinda unsure which heads to pick. i was thinking PRC 2.5 5.3's or the PRC 2.5 LS6 heads. money is no object with him so i am not comparing price between the 2 heads in that area. i also don't want to get a set of trick flows or AFR's either lol. i narrowed it down to these to sets so let me know what you guys think. he also plans on getting a fast 90/90 setup also.

LS6 STG 2.5 PRC texas speed heads are awsome, but the 5.3 heads are a good bang for the buck and i've seen 440RWH-429RWT through a stock intake, throttle body and cats lol near stock driveability dude no **** can't wrong with either head

When I was running the TV2 I was cam only to start with. When I bought my first set of heads I got the PRC Stage 1 LS6 heads. My 98Z picked up 50 RWHP on the dyno with them. They didn't require flycutting and the car ran the best of a 12.01@114mph in the 1/4 mile and was great on the street. I would go with the same thing Stage 1 PRC LS6. Now if you had reliefs in your pistons I would say go Stage 2.5 LS6 and have TSP shave your chambers to 59cc. Best advice would be to call TSP and ask John R. or Jason.

I had this same question, and I pm'd a TSP member here with no response
From what I've gathered, the 5.3s are the way to go. Make sure to pick up an oil pump and timing chain while you're at it, if you haven't already.

he has a vert which is kinda heavy. i he wants 11 sec passes, thats y i figure i would go up to the stage 2.5 ls6's. but i'm not sure if it's over kill. i will call tsp speed tomorrow and see what they say. i figured someone from tsp would've chimed in by now

I have some dyno data that can get you really close on the power output from that combo. I engine dyno tested the Torquer 3 & 228R next to each other with the PRC Stage 2.5 5.3l heads. Give us a call & we can fax a copy of the dyno sheets from those pulls

To the OP....I went through the same dillema as you, and ultimately chose the 5.3 2.5's, but I got ahold of some Craig Gallant GTP stg 2+ 241's and went w/ those instead. I talked to Jon @ TSP and he recommended to me the 5.3s over LS6 because, of the 5.3s runner length. Those w/ .040 cometic gaskets will give you about 11:1 compression, and will clear w/o flycutting as well.

ls6 heads. if they are both milled, the ls6 heads will need to be milled more to match the same compression of the 5.3. butthe combustion chamber is bigger in the ls6 heads and flows better around the valves. i know it sounds confusing, it like deshourding the valves.

I havn't played with the ls6 style heads but my t2 with the 5.3 heads seems to be doing good. With a LS6 intake and heavy 9" rear I put down 414whp/380wtq here in Utah. I plan to change to LS7 lifters over the winter and i'm going to change to a .040 head gasket while i'm there.

i say i doesn't even matter both heads will give you tremendous results, i'm goin with the 5.3s myself, but thats because they cost less, i have read about ppl who also use this combo, and they all say that they're very happy
