Default Head and cam for truck

I have a 2000 Silerado 2500 with a 6.0 in it. I am about to build the motor (which has 253,000 miles on it) and was wondering what a good head and cam combo would be for a truck 6.0. It is driven alot and used for towing regularly. I want an improvment over stock but still have decent gas mileage. Oh yeah and I'm on a budget. Haha!

For the 6L truck guys, a CNC'd LS6 head has been very popular over the years for a few reasons. First off, is the smaller chamber of the LS6 heads so you get that free bump in compression! Next is that the LS6 head makes a better starting point and platform for performance as far as cylinder heads go.

We offer the PRC cylinder head line-up as you may or may not know. The PRC Stage 2.5 LS6's start at about $1299 if you've already got a spring kit that you want to use, or $1499 fully assembled with a dual spring good to .650" lift!

Let us know if we can help! We'd be happy to earn your business

How much would a LS6 head change my compression? Any recommendations on a cam?

By the way, my truck has the iron heads.

a budget build and very drivable just a stock set of ls6 heads and a ls6 cam will give you around 60 to 80 horsepower at least compression will go from 9.4 to around 10.1 or slightly more you can pick up that heads and cam for around 800 and still be a great daily driver
