Default Has anyone had an oil pump failure in a 99+ LS1?

I know the 98's had issues, but has anyone ever had an oil pump failure on a 99+ using the stock pump?

I have a 70k mile pump that was in the car which held 40psi at idle when warm and didn't know if I should put it back in or buy a new..... as I've never seen a 99+ fail

I would have raised immortal hell! They say why? Had you been in the engine previously?

I've got 155k on my ss, stock pump, 40 psi at idle warm. But when I open the front cover, you bet your *** a new pump is going in. I feel like this thread is going to Jinx me. Hope she holds on a little bit longer.

No, they claim I raced it because I had drag radials on it when I had the tow truck drop it off. I got the regional manager involved, even took them to small claims court and lost. They look for any excuse to not warranty it. Anyway, it happened a long time ago and the point of the story is the oil pump failed. I had a memo an internal employee gave me that states GM knew about the failed oil pumps in 99' but it did nothing for me in court.

isnt there a spring that controls the pressure relief valve that you can change?

98 and early 99's had most of the problems. I don't think they really changed anything till 01 when the LS6 came out.

Look at it as $135 of insurance where as if it did go your looking over 3k for a new short block. You made the right choice My buddies 99 T/A smoked an oil pump while making a pass and resulted in him getting a 383 stroker ls.
