Default Heads for the MS4

I know everyone says do a search before you post a new thread but luck would have it that I am in Iraq right now and Do not have a whole lot of time for that. Now a few questions. My car is an 02 SS M6. Only mod I have on the car is a slp lid. I have all the suspension parts sitting at home so that not an issue. The camaro is not my DD. I plan on going with the MS4. My question is what is the best set of heads to go with this set up. and I plan on keeping the car N/A so also what would you recommend for LSA? Also would it be worth the money to get the fast 92mm combo? I do plan on getting a set of kooks with TSP TD's. Any Suggestions?

This is bass ackwards. The idea is to get the nicest heads you can get. Then get a cam to match them, since heads are more expensive. Not buy heads to match a cam.

Some people cant afford to buy heads first so they get a cam. Lots of people match heads to a cam and it works well. I did with great success.

To the OP, if you don't want to flycut look into some LS6 heads with stock valves. If you are willing to flycut I would look into some ported 5.3l or AFR heads.

Good to hear. Why don't you have those results in your sig then? I'm always interested since I'm always modding something.

Look at Trick flows line of heads. and no its not back asswards to do either first! With thier 13.5 degree you get alittle more clearance-drawback is must use aftermarket rockers- But if you are over there(thanks joe for stepping up) and dont blow it at those Bazzars or PXs like most do, get a set of TFs with some good rollerrockers setup for the most comprsesion you can live with on the street. If you go the LS6 243 heads, look into TEA. I was screwed by TSP while I was over there. My 02. PM Ron @ Vengance, they also carry these and he can and will do you right.

The TFS might help with the piston to valve clearance since they have a 13.5* valve angle, but i don't know for sure. If you haven't bought everything yet than why pick an MS4 right off the back. If you're ordering everything all at once why not just get whatever heads are in your budget and then get a cam (custom preferably) to match them

Why not get the Trex? Its proven so many times. This isnt your daily driver and you want to stay NA. Im doing the same with the Vindicator. But I drive mine every day. Ive seen the Trex run 10.8s on the motor(3300lb car).

I would also say Trick Flow heads!! I have them on my car with a stock bottom end and I've ran a best of 11.30 @120mph with a 1.5460ft. My best mph was a 121mph and best 60ft so far was 1.52. I can see this car going really low 11's or high 10's in good air. This is a full weight car. The car weighs 3600lbs with me in it.. 2002 Z28 A4

That's dyno numbers. Dynos are different from one to the next, and only ricers count on that ar a judge of performance. Track numbers tell the tale for non-ricers.

Go with a set of Trick Flows with Jessel rockers and talk to Ron at Vengeance to get a cam speced out for your combination. You won't be disappointed in the least.

Actually ricers don't dyno their cars so they don't post anything. Hell soon I'll have some numbers but won't have time to go to the track for awhile, which is

No, they post dyno numbers, but never put it on the dyno. They just add the advertised gains to the stock number, add 25% and call it drive wheel hp. Just like the guy with the 400whp civic who lost to my 130rwhp 85 V6 camaro. /end

You won't be disappointed with any head you put on the car. But, you will get more if you actually match the cam to the head. If you never do it, you'll never know the difference, but once you do it, you'll realize the difference it makes.

Ron at Vengeance knows his stuff, especially with TFS heads, but there are plenty of other people on here who know how to put things together well. A custom cam matched with the heads you get, and matched with the rest of your setup, will get you more than an off the shelf, and they don't cost much more.
