How come autos. use 114 LSA & manuals use 112 LSA?
Ive been noticing more/most automatic equipped cars using a 114 LSA on the cam and the manual tranny equipped cars using 112. Im currently running the MTI C2 cam which consists of a 112 LSA, is it going to affect anything when I convert over to an auto.? (200-4R) I dont see why the type of tranny has anything to do with the LSA. Im sure theres a good explanation for this. Will I need to change anything with the cam when I do so? Will I need to advance or retard it? Thanks

On a stock tune, yes and auto idles lower than a manual. It becomes more an issue if the auto car has stock stall (the closer your idle gets to stall speed, the more creap you're going to get sitting at a stoplight). As a rule, a tighter LSA will require a higher idle all things being equal. That's why most autos go with a 114.

A4's are very PICKY about there idle. 114 idles better or is easier to dail in with a A4 as compared to a 112.
my car has been weird every since i added a stall. Throw a cam in with that stall and the PCM doesnt know WTF to think

Re: How come autos. use 114 LSA & manuals use 112 LSA?
1. Will there need to be any adjustments made whatsoever after the swap?
2. What kind of changes/differences should I experience if I dont mess with it at all?
3. Do autos. perform better with a bigger/wider LSA?
4. Will I be risking anything swapping from one to another?
Thanks everyone for your help!
