Post rod bolt install

i am in the middle of a build and have a rod bolt question.
I have removed the stock bolts from the rod ends. the new bolts have a metal "seat" that looks like it slides into the rod end. do I need to remove the old "seat" (its a little piece of metal toward the top of the bolt)

i figured out what the problem is. there is a retainer that keeps the bolt from falling out before you bolt it in. when I removed the bolts from the rod bottom caps I had totap the old bolts out with a rubber mallet. the seat I was talking about is some sort of retainer. the new bolts had them so it fit like a charm with the old ones removed. uess i answered my own question. thanks!

You didn't answer my question

If you pulled both bolts at the same time, you've now messed up your clearances and you'll probably chew up some bearings pretty quick.

These rods are all getting new bearings and bolts. I bought the pistons and rods off of ls1tech. they were never installed. I just wanted to install new bolts for added security.

Ahh ok. I thought you were doing this to an already assembled short block.

Party on Garth.
