Edelbrock 2 piece cover
#5
I installed a QTP 2 piece about 3 years ago on my GTO. I wasn't concerned about the cam change frequency, as I was having to redrill my balancer / crank snout (procharger install) every time I pulled it off.

I have the QTP 2-piece cover and am just pulling the cam out over the winter and it was just a step easier 'cos you don't have to pull the balancer off. Aligning the cam and crank was a pain though 'cos I couldn't exactly see the dot on the cam gear. So I made sure the #1 piston was at at TDC and made sure the cam gear dot was facing straight downwards before taking it off. The beauty of the LS1 is that you can put the cam in even 180 degrees off and it'll still fire up!
The main reason I installed it was because when I put the engine together, we were gonna use the car as a test mule for different cams and I wanted to do a couple tests with the adjustable cam sprocket. Just pull the water pump and it's right there! Although, if you don't seal the gap between the two halves well (you need to use RTV on the QTP unit), it'll leak like a **** ... I'll be sealing it well this time.
