Default intake tube diameter ?

I am swapping a 08 LY6 into a older car and using a LS3 intake. I was wondering what would be the best intake tube diameter ? The only upgrade I will make later on, is a Patric G or MAST cam.

Would I see any increase in performance switching from stock stock 87MM MAF to a LS3/7 MAF?\

thanks,
Jim

Don't get burnt. 65 of those people didn't have a good answer to your question and the other 4 people were you refreshing the thread!

I would run what you have. Tubing isn't that expensive if you decide to change it later.

Clint,
Thats just it. Other than the LY6 MAF, I don't have anything. I'd prefer to buy it once

Found this thread with a bit of interesting info:

Let me know if you decide to sell the LY6 MAF. I don't have one for now.

Not exactly what you're asking, but something to think about: https://ls1tech.com/forums/generatio...mm-ls3-tb.html

Measure the MAF. Get tubing that is the same diameter.

4" tube diameter. Everyone seemed to comment about the MAF, I figured I'd say it.
There are several sites that sell 4" tubing and silicone bends and couplers ect... Siliconeintakes.com has some nice stuff and a really good price, but I think they are always out of stock of aluminum tubing, and aluminum tubing that has mandrel bends.

Just a FYI, if you get the LY6 MAF (not sure if the LS3 MAF is the same way), I ended up bending the IAT sensor upward a bit to put it more in direct line of the intake stream and it seems to have recognized lower IAT readings. As it sits, the IAT is fairly well shrouded and I don't think it gets very accurate readings.

I bent it with a small pin and a my finger. Some say to disassemble the maf, but I didn't feel like it.

I run a 4 inch downtube setup with a 100mm PowrMAF and a 107mm NW TB on a modified FAST LSX. Changing to the 4 inch down tube setup got me 6-7 Kpa up top.

Quick Reply: intake tube diameter ?
