Default Gains from Stock LS3 intake porting

I searched but couldn't find it. What type of gains have been seen if any from porting the stock LS3 intake? I found were the fast 102 only gained 3hp over stock. My application will be a 6.2 LS3 with a cam in the area of 229/236 620 lift.

Im looking for some real data on this as well. Not just from the sponsors selling the service.

I lost power on two ported L76 intakes on my G8. Both were done by reputable sponsors. One intake lost 9rwhp and the other lost 3. I hate spending $300 and losing power. Buyer beware. Just because you get an intake ported by a well-known sponsor does not guarantee that it's going to gain you power. I dynoed before and after on the same dyno both times. The FAST 102 intake on the other hand, made nice gains over the stock and ported L76 intakes. Search my threads and you'll see it.

Some great information here. I've heard way too many horror stories about hacked up intake porting jobs done by so-called "reputable people".
I'd mention names here, but at least one of them is a sponsor so I'll just say that you really need to do your homework before paying good money for intake porting. Also choose your tuner very carefully,,,,lots of horror stories there too! Feel free to PM me if you want names!

Patrick,
So why did you switch from the L76 to the cathedril port setup? Do you happen to have any flow data on the new AFR 230V2 heads?

thanks,
Jiim

I think the gains are so hit or miss its not worth buying a ported intake. I do believe in port matching your intake to your cylinder head though.

Ive yet to see one SINGLE dyno graph where porting the LS3 intake shows gains. I hear all sorts of claims but never any proof. Unless you want to count proof of LOSS of power as mentioned above

Mind you I seldom see much of any gains from the FAST on stock cubes either. on 427 builds then yeah its evident but stock 6.2L or smaller and not really. PatG clearly you gained but maybe its down to the tuning? As in your better equipped to get out of it what it has but not a lot of others that Ive seen have matched your success in that dept.

Never say never...

It's in here if you want to find it. We did a back to back never off the dyno intake swap going from an untounched L92 intake to one ported by Cory at LS2Portworks.

IIRC we picked up 8 or 9RWHP in the middle and it rolled over a little easier on top. You'll have to decide for yourself if it's worth it. I think it picked up a couple up top also.

Haven't tested one on a stock cube but we just ported a LS3 intake on a 416ci car. Picked up an average of 8hp/10tq across the midrange. This is a bigger motor though. For the 8hr's of prting we did I would say it wasn't much gain for the time.
