Default Oil Cooler Block Off Plate

Need the oil cooler block off plate with the threaded boss circled in the attached pic.

Does anybody know the GM part number for it?

Thanks,
Mike

I'm not aware of them coming from GM threaded. I know people have taken the plug out of them and threaded them to whatever they needed. Some have the nipple like the one pictured and others are just smooth. I prefer the smooth ones, but I don't run oil pressure from there.

I know that I'm resurrecting this from the boneyard but just wanted to share my recent experience. I found a "local" dealership that had 1 12551587 left on their shelves, so I jumped in the car and made the drive on a Friday afternoon to get there before they closed. Long story short, although the sealed bag that the part came in was labelled as 12551587, the actual part inside was the middle one pictured, not the one on the left--hole not bored through and not tapped. So, either the OP got his part numbers mixed up or GM made a running change and substituted the undrilled, untapped version to use up inventory. YMMV.

It's a running change. Its hit or miss what you get in the bags, most of the old C5 vette ones are out of the system by now, and you get the blanks instead. 12551587 has superceded all of the part numbers in GMLan.

I've never actually seen the C5 one. I'm guessing that is a oil temp sending unit?

I think that the sensor was separate--it was just the engine part that was drilled and tapped that I think that most people are looking for. I think the sensor shown is oil pressure, but I could be wrong.

I think it's a vette oil pressure sender.

It looks similar to the coolant temp sensor, and I don't see why the Vettes would have it there instead of at the back of the intake. I'm pretty sure thats a oil temp sensor, just wanted to be sure, so I asked.

Actually, that probably makes more sense, the oil pressure should be at the back of the intake up top, you're right.

So, I'm sorry to keep :beatdeadhorse: but, assuming that I got a wild hair and wanted to try to drill & tap this fitting to use the stock metric sending unit, I see that there are 2 types of metric 12 x 1.5 taps--"plug" and "tapered." Does anyone know which is appropriate for this application? Thanks!

Edit: Ah, you know what, the e-bay seller listed above is still selling these, already tapped, so if I decide to go this route, I think that's what I'll do.... Plus, CBM has some nice ones available on their e-bay site as well, so I'll check them out if I need additional oil port access. Thanks again. We now return you to your regularly scheduled broadcast.

FYI, Lingenfelter makes a beautiful billet piece that I'm expecting to arrive today, solves my issue with an oil temp sensor and an aux oil pressure gauge.

Does the gasket come with the OFAC? If not do you have the part number? Sorry to resurrect such an old thread but this is good info!
