Default 08 5.3l V8 into a 2004 GMC Sierra w/5.3

I'm looking to swap a newer 5.3 into my 04 GMC Seirra and want to make sure I have everything needed to do so. I know I need a converter to allow a 58x reluctor into the 04 24x reluctor setup.

Is there any other connectors or anything else I may need to modify to get the engine to work?

Thanks

Knock sensors will have to mount on the side of the block so extensions will have to be done there. The cam sensor will be in the timing cover instead of the rear upper area. This is a non DOD 5.3 right?

I would assume that its a non dod. The chevy dealer that is selling the crate engine says that the only thing I will need is a wiring harness that can be bought from them for $400. I asked if it was a full plug and play swap and they said yes. I just don't want to run into any problems if I go ahead with the buy. I deployed right now and I would buy the engine and it would sit at my house until I get back this summer.

Put a LQ9 6.0 long block in it instead, IMO. It will drop right in, more HP/TQ, everything swaps over, use your existing 5.3 PCM and have it tuned.

Not sure how dropping a LQ9 in would be less than the $2699 I'd be paying for a fully dressed, zero mile, 5.3 crate motor. I'm not looking for more power, I just need a replacement for my 130K stock motor. If it would be cheaper please let me know, every dime saved goes towards my beer fund.

Ok so i verified that the engine is a Non DOD engine. The dealership says the wiring harness to allow it to work in a 04 is a full plug and play. So given all that, it should be just a simple pull out the old and drop in the new. Later on I will add some headers and a mild tune.

While I have the engine out, is there any better of a Torque converter I should think about putting in? The truck is a Z71 that doesn't really get abused at all, frequent hiway trips so I don't want to drop any fuel economy.

why did someone tag this thread with BS tags that aren't even relevant to the topic?

I'm at 330k miles with my 4.8
Why do u need to replace your engine? Sounds like it's not abused at all. Still has plenty of life left.
LPE also sells a 24xto58x converter box. For about 275$

No oil pressure, pretty sure I spun a cam bearing. Did all the normal checks, new pressure sender, manual check. 0-3psi at idle and 15-20 while driving. Figure it'll cost 500-1000 for a new oil pump and I'm not even sure thats the problem. $2699 gets me a fully dressed GEN IV crate motor and peice of mind.

The deal with the converter box is that I'm trying to get 100% confirmation that will be the only electrical box/harness I will need to drop this engine in.
