Default MAF and lid for Trans Am LS7 swap

We are installing the LS7 in the next few weeks. The LS7 has stock heads, stock intake, Katech Torquer LS7 cam, 1 and 7/8 Kooks long tubes (engine dyno made 619 HP/578 Torque). The car ('98 TA vert) has a rebuilt T56 M6, new drive shaft, new 9" with 411's, SFC's, LCA's, and torque arm. We plan to give it light spray 100-150 shot max. We are considering speed density tuning. But, I am concerned about the temp fluctuations in South FL. And, I do not have a stock LS7 MAF. So, I am favoring using an aftermarket 100mm MAF. What MAF should I run with the LS7 (TSP vs. Lingenfelter)? Also, how can I get more air into this set up? Is it worth cutting up the front end to route more air into the MAF. I know most cars with smaller cubes (LS1) just have a FTP or SLP lid. But, with the 427, is it worth trying to get more air from below (Blackwing, SS, Chris1313, etc) or even a custom CAI through the fogs or cut center section?

The 104 lid will be more than enough. You can add a ram air kit to help when you race if you want to

Will you be running this car at the track? I have 2000 Formula with a 427 but have TFS 235s. I'd love to see how are cars compare (Ls7 heads versus TFS 235s). When I built mine I wasn't sure which heads to go with. Good luck.

Sure why not lol, and the TSP MAF seems to be the most popular. Be sure to get a screen from Saxon to make sure the airflow is solid across the sensor

I plan to run PBIR. I would really like to run the milemarker-1 race some time too!

Stock LS7 heads flows 350CFM at 600 lift on the intake and don't know about TFS , 150 shoot is much on that bottom end , The LS7 valves intakes are not that strong to hold up that more power , I seen many of LS7 with stock valves falls and damaged the motor by falling the intake valves , Second thing the pistons are not strong and has weak top , third thing the rods bolts are very light and can't handle that much power of shoot

Very good points! We are planning to run it NA at first. Down the road, we might spay. Fortunately, TEC build the engine with aftermarket (Mahle) pistons and rod bolts. I will need to check on the intake valves.

Mike built mine as well in addition to alot of people I know. Surprised you don't have JE pistons. Seems like that was all he used. When do you expect to be up and running?

The car was painted last week. So, the swap begins this week. I think we should be running by April Fools Day!
