Default Driver side oil galley plug

I have a new ls376/480 crate engine and am running a short sweep autometer oil pressure gague. Can I run the sender where the driver side oil galley plug in the block currently is? I see everyone seems to drill and tap the cover over the oil filter (which I'm not opposed to), just wondering why I can't find any threads about the block plug location for the sender. Thanks!

Smile oil galley

Oil pressure is oil pressure, as long as you are in the system, should make no difference. If you can find the correct threaded adapter, it should make no difference, just can be easier to drill and tap than the issue with the metric threads on the plug. .02
