Default Headers running too hot , please help

Hi , My friend installed his new LS3 engine and put into his 2007 Lumina SS , Well after installing we start up the motor and noticed the both sides headers are running too hot and the color of the headers changed to orange , After that we replaced the seals for injectors and intake and still running same , Car isn't missfiring and the idle is good .

I told my friend maybe you have bad knock sensors or timimg is retarded and has bad spark so what you guys think ?

Thanks in advance

Glowing headers are usually a sign that the motor is too lean was this motor tuned??

Could be too lean or too retarded timing. It might still be burning fuel in the exhaust.

i just ran into this problem on an older 350, what type of manifolds are on it? that was the problem with ours, cheap headers=800 degree exhaust gas, swapped headers and went to 350 degrees, just something to check, i replaced manifold and gaskets and carb. before i figured it out.

Did you put this LS3 engine with its own computer in the Lumina? Or did you just pop it in there with the stock Lumina computer?
