Default All oil rushed out!

What do you think could have happened? I got a ls1 long block from a guy with a TA. I used my oil pan and all covers. I get the motor installed and go to start it for the first time. Oil light comes on and all my engine oil was rushing out the rear of the block somewhere and pouring out by the bell housing. At first I thought I forgot the oil filter but I had it in place. Could my rear cover or main seal be bad? Barbell plug missing? I am so frustrated and stumped right now. Really do not want to pull the motor again.

Sounds like you forgot to replace the oil pressure sending unit, behind the intake. Tall black thing with green connector:

Oil pressure sending unit? Rear main seal is first to come to mind naturally

Does the pan have the cooler bypass bolted in place?

That I don't remember. What does it look like and where does it go? When I pulled pan of original GTO motor it had trash all in it so I cleaned the pan. Is a possibility I forgot to put something back.

So you mean the pickup tube in the pump? The oil filter was removed and a new one in its place. Not leaking from that location.

This was not a small leak. It was an instant gusher. Oil was not leaking until startup. When it was started it literally poured out of the back of the block like you were filling it from the top!

yea its either the rear main seal or sending unit you would be able to tell if it was your oil filter easiest thing is to pull the intake and check the sending unit first. If its not that you know its your rear main seal

Fill it up with oil. Disconnect the coils or plugs so it doesn't fire, crank it over and look for the leak. Shouldn't be hard to find.

I meant when you pulled the old oil filter off sometimes the rubber seal sticks to the block. When you install the other over top of that seal itll blow it out on startup......ask me how I know.

It will literally drain your oil in seconds and spray everywhere.

Where would it blow out? It went out rear of the block. No oil leakage by the filter.

No lol. Had to lift motor to re tighten a couple bolts. I should have just replaced all seals and gasket the first time. Have never had this happen before.
