Default LS3 98Z 600 Horse Power!!!!!!

I just heard from the machine shop that my engine is done, Its a 6.0 out of an Hybrid Tahoe that I put a set of massivly ported 823 square ports on and a 624 lift 240/250 duration Comp Cam @50 on a 114lsa. Im hoping it will make the upwards of 600 with a good tune but im a few dollars away from hearing it run. I just purchased a turbo 400 from Monster trans and had a 4500 stall made. I cant wait to start posting picks as of now it looks like a car with a bunch of boxes laying around it. I hope my first LS build goes off without a hitch!!!!!!

600 to the rear wheels or 600 to the crank?

Even 600 at the crank will be a very tall order to get on a TH400 and a big stall.

Heck, even a manual car will have a tough time getting to those numbers.

600 @ the crank would have nothing to do with what transmission

Agreed lol. Im building a 418 and hoping for 520-550 rwhp through a manual... there is no mention of what compression or fuel though, i've seen 416 at 550 with 13.5 compression through an auto

Fine, 600 at the crank with a 6.0 will be a rather tall order.

That should be easy enough. I have a Vengeance 418 LS3 with a fairly conservative cam making 524/490 through a manual.

LS3 Camaro's are getting 500rwhp. You have a slightly smaller motor so I would say 575 at the crankshaft is possible depending on how well your head work is and the other supporting mods. For 600hp at the crankshaft you would need a well sorted out combination.

I hate to be a downer, but please don't tell me the "Monster Trans" you speak of are the guys in Florida. If so... ESPECIALLY if your motor is indeed making close to that 600 mark.

I'm sure others out there may have had better luck, but I made the mistake of purchasing a transmission from them via eBay when I was young... that was a lesson learnt the hard way. There's a reason why the sponsors on this site are king of the crop when it comes to LS-prepared transmissions. Monster even went to the extent of creating http://monstertransmissionreviews.com to try and promote themselves. Strange how every review on the site is a positive one. Go figure. That to me is just downright shady! Do a google search and be prepared to see numerous complaints about the company not backing their warranty.

If you're speaking of a different "Monster Trans," then WHEW. Otherwise... well, good luck sir. Hopefully your results are better than mine.

On the bright side, your motor should run good. Hell, even if it doesn't reach the 600 mark, a low to mid 500 number will run plenty strong.

Best of luck on your project.

I hope you eventually post what it does to the rear wheels friend.

Care to elaborate your claim?

With all the variables that determine where you can free up or lose power in an engine build, there is no reason getting close to 600 at the crank should be a "tall order" with a 6.0. There's plenty of guys with 347's making mid 500's at the crank, and some with over 500 on the ground, just because it was a well thought out combination.

He never elaborated on the engine build at all. There's no information on the heads, no idea if the shortblock has any aftermarket parts (lightweight internals, stroker, high comp pistons, etc) or if its just been ran through and put back together, since its at a machine shop. Just because a lot of people have had less than satisfactory results with their builds, doesn't mean he will.

Not trying to start a pissing match, just don't see the point in reaffirming your negativity towards someones project, when you don't know much about it to begin with.

Granted I think his goal of "Upwards of 600" is a bit high.

Hope to see some results when its all said and done!

It is!

It's an absolute torque monster. If I wanted to, I could just leave it in 4th gear and drive around the track and still be pretty quick.

Sorry guys but the motor is the aluminum 6.0 out of an hybrid tahoe. It has 12:1 compression and CNC ported 823's. The cam is a comp cams 624 lift with 240/250 duration @50. Stainless valves with titanium retainers and of coarse trunion upgrades. I love all the bickering from all the neysayers. If it dosent get close to 600 WHO CARES Im having fun with it in my little 98 4th gen. With its 4000 stall and 410 gears the streets of San Antonio wont be safe for a while and this isnt my first Rodeo just my first LS powered.
