Default Correct t56 trans for my Ly6

Just purchased an LY6 out of a 2008 Silverado and I am looking to match it up with a T56 and install it in my 67 impala. I understand that the t56 transmissions from LT1 motor cars are not a perfect match as I believe the input shaft is different and needs to be replaced. Can anyone direct me to the proper/best T56 swap that would require the least amount of modifications to the trans for my swap. Thanks.

Just a T56 from any LS1 car will work fine. Make sure you install the pilot bushing in the crank.

LT1 has a bunch of differences. The bellhousing, front cover and input shaft are different.

Thanks and I trust (hope) you are right. I thought a CTS V trans from a awd car or a t56 from a Corvette might be different but from your comment I guess they will work as well. For some reason I thought those transmissions were different or required special adapters.
I will leave this out to anyone else for further comment but if you are right I'm going to get one from a ctsv that is at a decent price.

Idk anything about the CTS-V trans.

I know for a fact a Fbody trans will bolt right up. Call Tick performance or Texas Drivetrain Performance. They will be happy to help.

Default T56

The corvette t56 is a totally different design. Transaxle type. Ls1 camaro, gto, maybe ctsv. I can't say for sure ctsv, never looked at one.

does anyone know if a 2012 t56 transmission will work with a 08-09 ly6 engine? This is for a 1973 c10 swap

There is no such thing as a 2012 T56. The new transmissions are TR6060. They are good, but most (if not all) come with fixed output yoke, so they aren't as swap friendly. The easiest T56 to swap is the T56 Magnum, which is actually a TR6060 made for aftermarket applications and has a regular slip yoke.

Sure thing. By all accounts the T56 Magnum is a great transmission.
