Default Anyone modify a Kooks TD?

I have the Kooks true dual exhaust on my TA and it is too loud. I knew it was going to be loud, but not this loud. I want to add 2 resonators, but I cant figure out where to put them. I have a friend who welds stainless, so that part is a non-issue. Has anyone done it? Any input?

Did you run the cats before the X or no?

no cats. Ive added auger style silencers which made a very small difference.

My readings at 20 ft away from the car, after the silencers, were:
96 dB at idle
90 dB at 2000 rpm
108 dB at 4000 rpm

cats will mellow it out some and quiet it a little . I think your kinda sol . Not a lot of room to put anything else in . Maybe a bullet muffler or chambered muffler where a cat would go ?

High flow catalytic converters may be the way to go. I was considering them on my car but found a way to install the Vibrant resonators. I don't have a 1999 Trans Am though.

Baconz28: The quality is phenomenal and it fits great. Its just too loud on my car.

ramairetransam: Im afraid you are right. There arent many straight runs in this system. Im hoping someone has on here has experience adding to this set up.

The 402 must make a hell of a difference. Mine has cats and I wish it was louder. Still have stock internals though.

The engine itself is louder than LS1s I've owned or been in. If I were you, I would get a electric cut out. That way you can have it loud when you want and still be able to quietly cruise past a cop.

Just add cats if you don't mind the sacrifice in a little power. Still gonna rumble pretty good though. I've done it both ways with this system....currently without.....lol, really no point in a radio

LPE 403 on my last exhaust system I had gutted the cats, and there wasnt a noticeable difference in volume, but the tone was much different.

Im thinking I might just pull the kooks system off and do a custom dual exhaust with two long stainless works chambered mufflers as intermediate pipes and then some borla xr1s in the back. I dont know if I want to chop up and potentially ruin such an expensive system. The kooks true duals can go on my next big inch build. The 402 doesnt NEED dual 3 inch pipes.

I have the same problem with my car and this system. I am running cats and it is unbelievably loud. As it is right now there is no way I will be able to use the car for anything but driving in the country. I sent an email to kooks asking for suggestions and I'm waiting to hear back.

68L71 let me know what they say. I emailed them and the response was a longer version of "add cats". I've been very busy at work lately, so I havent had time to get underneath the car. I need to quiet it down to run it as a street car at the dragstrip.

I'll let you know what they say. It's too bad they don't offer a quieter version, I was hoping since I am running cats that it would be quieter. It is ridiculously loud. I am running a LS7, but with the system being a full 3" true dual, they had to expect people to be running it behind some big motors and not just a stocker.
