Default ls2/ms3 cam/ls3 heads

Currently I have a stock ls2 out of a gto swapped into a g body. I just did a cold air intake, long tubes, tsp ms3 cam with prc .650 springs and tune. I'm looking at getting a set of ls3 heads and intake eventually and wondering if there will be clearance issues with this cam?

I know this cam isn't a custom grind, or optimized for an ls3 but I cant see why it wouldn't work if it doesn't have ptv clearance issues? Would fly cutting be necessary if the heads were milled to bump the compression?

I tried searching google for answers on multiple forums but haven't really ran across anything.

would the ls3 heads and stock ls3 intake offer more of a hp increase then just putting a fast 102 on top of my current, stock ls2 243 heads? It seems like you can get ls3 heads and intake for the price of a fast intake.

Thanks!

Have you done this before or seen it done with this cam?

i have seen smaller cams not fit. 231 is about tops on the intake and 239-240 on exhaust. the lsa wont matter a whole lot on that as far as trying to make it fit either.
you dont need a larger cam like that to make power with those heads.

If you want to check bolt the heads on without gaskets and roll it around a few times. An even better way would be to make a solid lifter or use one and try it loke that and use machinist clay. play dough wont work. some people use tootsie rolls but that is a bit redneck. then measure how much the clay is compressed...or more likely cut in half...

Ok thanks for the info. looks like I will either stick with doing ported cathedrals or have to swap the cam with the ls3 top end.

Do you just need to flycut for the intake valve? I'll keep that as an idea. I will definitely be checking ptv clearance and I guess I could fly cut as well.

both would be best. once you have the head set up to cut you can do it very quickly
