Default Unanswerable question, undoable thing....

Hello,

So I'm pretty much at the end of my rope. I have a Gen IV 5.3 liter to which I planned on mating a Saginaw 3 speed manual transmission. I keep hearing that due to crank differences things won't just bolt up, but I can't find what EXACTLY I need to do the job. If anyone knows the part numbers for the flywheel, pressure plate, throw out bearing, and bellhousing I will need to make this work - I would shocked, amazed, and forever grateful. At this point I don't think I believe anyone has been able to get this combination to work. Any help - please??????????

Is that the one with the 0.4" longer crank? There's a huge thread in the "hybrids and conversions" section on manual swaps, but you may be SOL if you have the long crank...

No - that was the 99 to 00 that had the oddball crank. I actually bought on on ebay, but (thank god) there was a problem with shipping to my address, so it gave me a chance to bail out on that purchase.....Now I have a 5.3 liter LMG out of an 07 Tahoe. I'm amazed that with all the "experts" on the net no one has any answers to this. It's as if I'm the first person to ever try to hook up a legacy GM manual tranny to a Gen IV CSB. Does everyone just give up and go slushbox? Man this is frustrating!

Call somebody like American Powertrain and ask them. They are experts on these late model engines and trans.

Guess I should have posted the link. If you can't find your answer here, better hire somebody to do the job...

Um yeah....very answerable and doable....I've done several.
Every Saginaw I've seen was the 10 spline and configured like an early Muncie/T10. But check the input shaft measurements before you start buying stuff.

I ran this by our tech guru and he basically said that we've sold everything for that pairing before and while it's not a set of notes we keep in the system (though we may now), we do have everything to create the right cominbation of parts to get the most out of that engine/trans.

If you're really curious about part numbers, you can give us a call next week at (928)-771-8422 to talk it over. From the linked post, it looks like the 621 is bellhousing winner, but if there's something else that works or you'd want to use, that'll be crucial to how everything else Legos together.

Default thanks!

Thank you for your reply. I ended up ordering a 621 replica bellhousing. Will check you guys out for the clutch when the time comes. I'm thinking of going with the 11 inch. A smaller clutch never made sense to me!

Part numbers for what you'll need should be the same as a 10 spline Muncie/T10 included in the link above.
