4x4 l92 build/ cylinder head options
Hey guys, I have a '13 L92/6l80 4x4 Sierra and I have some questions about my next purchase, cylinder heads. The truck is daily driven and I take it all over the U.S. during hunting season. The name of the game for me is reliability and drivability. I realize the heads won't play a huge roll in reliability I just want to avoid comments asking what my goals are.
So far the truck has 1 3/4 long tubes, 3" y-pipe and 3.5" borla catback. Airaid intake, ls9 cam/vvt delete and ls6 valve springs. I have a friend trying to talk me into putting a stall converter in it but I'm still not convinced on how it'll perform in the sand/mud/ ice/ hiway.
After I swap the heads the next step will be some sort of forced induction, I'm leaning toward a Maggie 2300 or possibly a whipple. If I decide later it's still not enough I may do a 416/418 stroker. So that's the plan.
I've heard great things about porting my stock l92 heads as well as aftermarket castings so with all that in mind what would be the best bet for my plans? I think 600 whp is a realistic goal so that's what I'm shooting for. Any and all help is appreciated. Here's a few pics of the truck.
