Did I buy the wrong oil pump?
Hey all,
Over the past year and a half I've been assembling parts for a 402/head/cam/nitrous build for my M6 6.0 GTO. I bought a Melling 10296 (high volume) pump with plans of running it. I've read of people emptying entire pans with this pump, stating that a ported LS2/6 can supply enough pressure and flow to support a stroker. Should I really be worried? I typically run Autocross and a little Mexico racing about once a month over the summers when she's driven.
Thanks!

That pump shouldn't be an issue, I have the same pump I am using on my new motor. A lot depends on your bearing clearances and what pan you are running.
Mine is one that's been worked over by Precision Oil Pumps, they claim the 296 does not cause an issue with this. Some of the other higher volume ones may be a different story. The 296 is classified as a Medium volume.
