Default Lq4

im not sure if this is the right place to post it or not but i have some questions regarding this. This spring i am going to be replacing my LS1 with a LQ4, i already have the motor and have some questions for you guys. I am full bolt ons (with the exception of headers, which will be going in with the swap this spring). I want to possibly get around the 400HP area for under 1100. I want a cam that lopes pretty good and makes good number but has good driveability. But im not sure what works and what doesnt work in these engines(LQ4). So i was thinking maybe a MS3 or a TSP 232/239? also, should i bump the CR up on it, i will be running 93 octane but realize these engines are low compression. Also what else do these engines respond well to? or weak areas? itll mostly be a street car with a few visits to the track. Also will the 317 heads flow well enough for the numbers i want or should i build some L92's? thanks

its the same setup as an ls1, with a few exceptions. youve got dished pistons and a larger bore. the larger bore means you can run a larger cam, a cam that has a small lope in an ls1 would idle like normal in a larger engine. the 317s flow like 243s, just mill them to raise your compression. with the right cam and some tsp cnc l92s you would be way over 400hp, but youd be going over $1100. ive got an lq4 and am planning on getting the tsp cnc l92s.

what size cam would you reccomend then? i want something that will lope pretty well but will still be drivable everyday. Do you guys think i could get near 400HP by milling the heads and doing a big cam? I have a LS6 intake and a port/polish tb for it too.

either of the cams you selected would be good for 400hp. if you were to get some porting done to the heads you would be well over 400hp with a nice tune.

Heres a list of parts i am thinking about for the build:

TSP 233/239 112lsa cam
PRC dual valve springs, Ti retainers
TSP chromoly pushrods(what size do i need for the cam..? 7.400?)
Rollmaster adj double roller timing chain
TSP ported LS6 oil pump
LS6 intake
Ported/polished tb

also will have pacesetter LTs on when it is going in the car. So the car will be full bolt ons with a tune. do you think i will make around 410-420rwhp with this? How does this sound for a street setup?

thats about the same setup i went with. i went with a different cam and did not want to screw with a double roller. you can use a 7.4 but it may be a little noisy. some say the 7.425 would be the best, but youd be better off measuring.

nothing, it went right in. i had to move the negative cable from the battery towards the front of the block. i didn't tap the hole for the alternator.
