Default LS2 Crankshaft, Flywheel Dowel, do I need one opinions?

My LS2 did not come with the Crankshaft/Flywheel alignment dowel. It is a pull out of a 2006 GTO with no transmission. I have tried to locate one, is this something that no LS2s had or is mine just missing?

Several people say that run their engines without the dowel with no problems. I have all the bolts on the flywheel to crank and it allows some movement in relation to the crankshaft. I can eye ball the two holes and get it very close but It would never be as exact as having a dowel.

So what is the opinion on this?

Thanks

Ben
