push rod length
I have a L76 6.0 and have changed camshafts. I measured the push rod length with the current cam and came out to be right at 7.40-figured with
.100 preload. It sounds like a type writer but thought that was pretty normal.
Anyway I'm changing the cam again and was trying to decide if I could calculate the length by measuring the base circle of the cam lobes. I measured the lobes of the stock cam and the new cam that will be installed.
I don't know for sure if this is even possible but here is what I came up with
stock cam- 1.551" and 1.560"
new cam - 1.406" and 1.450"
I've installed LS7 lifters and by these numbers I'm thinking I'll need longer pushrods. I don't know what the base circle measures on the current cam installed but think it is probably smaller then stock. What should I do?
