Can some people help me. I hear there are some problems with the LSX blocks. Can somebody inform me of these problems.
I have heard that the rear cylinders will wrap for heavy amount of spary. Heard that the cylinder walls will distort
All so heard that there is aproblem with bearing walk?

I'd say the biggest problem is the weight

Okay, yeah, I'm being an ***, but I think you'd be best waiting to hear from people that have actually used the blocks under heavy loads like Robin L and others. For every product out there, it seems like there are tons of people with opinions about them that have never used them, and probably never will.

Some of them I think were completely unusable, some needed some touching up to fix the problems and some came perfectly fine.

So, you just need to make sure its a good one before you buy it. You might be buying a big paperweight.

I believe some of the original blocks had issues as stated above but I believe they corrected them. My block had a problem with one of the crank journals was out of specs. It was corrected. A good machine shop will make sure everything is machines and in proper tolerances.

I hope that aluminum version comes with longer sleeves. If it doesn't it'll be ridiculous.

Really I think that there is a learning curve with the high horsepower LSX combinations.

Some of the things that work on a 23 degree small block don't work very well on an 12 degree or 15 degree LS series engines.

I just got off the dyno with our 440" LSX Nitrous engine. 29 Pulls over 4 days. 6 of the pulls were with a .028 jet in the fogger. We were working on carb fuel curves. Some of the things we saw defy normal wisdom.

During this period where people firgure out what there engines like your going to see some parts failures.

Trust me I have had my share of broken parts. But if you don't try different things then you will never learn.

The worst LSX block I've ever seen was one where the drill bit for one of the main journal oil passages had snapped off in the block. Far from unuseable, I think it went on to make well over 1500hp.

I've never seen an LSX block that was "unuseable" or would be considered a paperweight. Cam bearing bores are usually tight, but can be honed out to size no problem.

Ok well it seems that they had some problems in the beg. with them but the block will need to be touched up when it arrives correct.

I ahve heard it is a 454 out of the box. Is that true? how can a block have displacement with the rotating assembly?

Nope, it comes with a bore of 3.99" or so. It has the potential to go to 454ci, but it needs some machining to get there.

A block doesn't have displacement without the rotating/reciprocating assembly.
