You should use an LS2 resleeved block instead of the LSX....if you're staying N/A. Those cylinders are pretty short for a 4.125 stroke. Assuming you're using a 4.185 bore.

What compression?
How big of a cam?

Should get 600 RWHP through an A4, maybe more. That intake is the weak link. But not many choices out there really, ITB intake would rock on that thing. Thats what I'm doing, 454ci LS2 with an ITB intake.

looking at a 4.2 bore 4.1 stroke

havent decided on compression

cam is the striker from Ragin Racin 244/256 110 with around .670 lift

definitely going with the LS7 intake. looking for a real clean production looking build. bored stroke and ported. but completely stock appearing LS7

Oh yea and i always run three pedals. My left foot gets bored.

I know what you mean about the factory look, but I've had that look for 7 years with my ~500 RWHP 427ci. Now my next engine will be all business.

I'm going 4.185 bore x 4.125 stroke, but with a relseeved LS2. And spraying a dual stage 300 (150/150) I have a LSX iron block sitting here but I just don't want to use that stroke in the short cylinders.

I'm expecting/hoping we'll get 650-680 RWHP through my A4 (4L80E) with a .650 lift cam 260 duration @50 on a 114 lsa on 1.7 ratio....with a decent idle. The intake is where all the power is though. I'm using the Harrop ITB intake on top of 400+ cfm heads. I'm having the guy in the video below fly down to do my dyno tune. I'm using the same cam as he has. He just finished a 454ci LSX iron with 372 cfm AFR 245cc heads and the Harrop intake and he made 752 RWHP through a manual tranny..yes...RWHP. granted his manual tranny has minimal drivetrain loss. He said the Harrop was easy to tune too. He made 65 hp more than his FAST 90/90 when he went to the Harrop ITB. His Wilson sheet metal only made like 4 RWHP more than the FAST 90/90. And the sheet metal was unable to idle good below 1,200 rpm...now his Harrop idles at 600 rpms. He's running E85 too.

Intakes are where the power is. Look at this sweet idle from a 752 RWHP N/A street engine.

I know i before i only mentioned i wanted a stock look. I forgot to include i dont hae 5k+ to spend on an intake. Dont take that as offensive or sarcastic. Im being completly serious. and some may laugh but right now im going to school. and this is a starter build. I toned down my original build, and this is where i ended up. I don't doubt that in a few years ill tear it back apart and shoot for 900-1000WHP. but for now this is plenty. If i wanted to more. id do a L76 Head Setup with the new 102mm FAST. but im looking more for a low key build. your setup looks great. good luck. it going in an f-body? Youve already had your stepping stone. this is mine. I look forward to see your completed build.

1998 WS6 T/A.

Harrop 58mm ITB intake, delivered to my door in Florida complete with the LS2 ETC conversion kit, all linkages and filters....$2,070.

The price on them have come WAY down. They were over $5,000 one year ago.

I know what you mean about college man....I was an ERAU guy once.

This is going to be one badass build! The ONLY thing I would change is to run a set of Morel lifters. DO NOT RUN THE CTS-V LIFTERS. They're very prone to failure, and with your heavy hitter cam with lots of lift, you will need the Morel's. I also believe that the CTS-V lifters are lift limited, and you're pretty damn near that threshold.

I'm running a cam a tad bit bigger then the Striker with the CTS-V lifters and haven't had problems as of yet. I'm bitting my nails about it though.........

Thanks Haans. Your first build (RIP) really is what inspired this build. I ordered the lifter already but im gonna look into the morel lifters. I'm really trying to make this a strong build. I dont wanna have anything hanging over my head. Like... Should i have gotten different lifters?

I would definitely look into the Morels, so I'm glad you're doing so. Couple of quick questions, who ported your manifold? I also didn't know that Harland Sharp made roller rockers for the LS7, or are you using modified stock rockers? What injectors are you going with, and can you explain a little more about your exhaust setup? I don't understand the need for a 3.5" and a 3" cutout.

just a few reference threads. No definitive answers to why they failed, but always makes me a little skeptical. I have personally NEVER seen or heard of a morel lifter fail.

I plan on having jeremy formato port my manifold.

I dont know about a difference between LS7 vs. LS1 style rocker. guess i made a mistake there

For injectors ill be using the 60# motron injectors from my last build. with a conversion kit(i forget who makes it)

and my exhaust will be Kooks 2" Headers(3-1/2" Collectors), with 3-1/2 electric cutouts, then the Kooks y-pipe with 3" outlet, then the borla adj. catback, and im gonna put a 3" cutout in the adj. side. Not necessary. its just something i wanted to do.

Im in Daytona Beach right now. But ill start buildign this beginning of may in Fenton, MI. Just south of Flint. (I see your in Ann Arbor)

Yes, the LS7 and LS1 rockers are completely different, along with being different to the L92/L76/LS3 rockers.

The LS7 rockers are a 1.8 ratio, so watch out when calculating lift for cams.

Not sure what the point of all the cutouts are, but to each their own.

I am in Ann Arbor, and if I'm still around would love to check out your car.

I know about the 1.8 ratio. anything other than that? I thought if i used an LS1 "rocker seat" it would work.

So what rockers should i run?

yea. i just wanna be able to open up the 3-1/2" cutouts at the track or when i wanna be annoying. but then i can also adjust my day to day sound with the 3" in the borla, on the run. should be cool. maybe not. w/e

Looks good.

This is what I would suggest (if you can afford it)

FAST LS7 102mm / FAST 102mm TB (not out yet, but will be coming out in a few months)
Morel Link-bar Lifters
Harland Sharp rebuilt stock LS7 rockers or any other aftermarket LS7 rockers (Jesel/T&D/Yella Terra).

As far as buying pushrods/head bolts/timing chain/oil pump etc... I would suggest seeing what deal you can get with a 454 longblock, maybe from TSP, although I would suggest HKE or LME, and just send them the heads, and get everything else from them. Its definitely more confusing/more difficult/more expensive to try and piece together an entire build.

I will definitley be upgrading to the FAST intake when it comes out.

Morel.. I'll pick those up.

I guess i need to look for some LS7 rockers.

I think ive gone to far to back out and order a longblock...
