Part number change from GMPP. If you order a 12584727 from GM you will get a 12621769. Probably has a pnc for internal reasons at GMPP.

I think I read somewhere that the newest LS3's will use the same block as the LS9 supercharged engine. Apparently there have been several updates to it relative to previous versions to improve bottom end strength. Can you guys confirm this is indeed the case? Is there a part number change as a result of this (i.e. possibly eraly LS3's versus the latest, if there has been a change)?

Thanks, on my short list of items to buy in near future.

One more question, does GM offer a stock, LS3 short block? I already have a top end setup, a factory LS3 bottom would be an economical way for me to move forward more quickly.

no, gm no longer offers short blocks for the LS. they used to for the ls1 i believe, but have since stopped. just long blocks for all now.

What's your build plans? I have a buddy who's abandoning a project, he has a new block and a set of new Manley flat top pistons for a 4.1" stroke 427 along with a pair of bare L-92 heads. I'm sure he'd make you a great deal on part or all of it.

I'll ask - I'll get the part numbers as well. I think he has a set of Childs-Ackerly rings, too.

Do you know what a 12621766 is? That is what my current block is...going in this week. Its supposed to be a LS3, just curious if anything special about it.

Thanks.
