LQ4 or LQ9?

LQ4 or LQ9?
I’m looking for a LS motor for a project; can you guys help me get the right start? My goal is to build a powerful (450 – 500 HP NA range) reliable motor on a budget. It will be pushing a 2200 pound car that will see about a half dozen track days a year at a local road courses and the rest of the time for weekend use on the street.
The plan is to buy an iron LS, use L92 heads, a L76 intake, mild cam (hot cam?) & throw in good rod bolts and oil pump for a little added insurance. I have been considering a LQ4 due to the lower compression & plan for the L92 heads, and I didn’t want to fly cut pistons. I understand the LQ9 has better connecting rods, and am re-thinking my plan. So what is the best engine for me?

05 and up LQ4 is just as strong as the LQ9. The L92's are 70 cc' chambers, so I'd try and find a LQ9. This will allow you fairly good compression with minimal mill. With the LQ4 you'll have to mill more thus reducing PTV.
