Default LQ4 Head Gasket Question

Sorry if this has been asked already. I tried a search and only came up with 20 posts or so with no good info.

I am installing an 02 LQ4 into my camaro. I want to replace the head gaskets and i'm not changing anything with the engine other than the Cam and oil pump for the time being. With that said what is the thinnest and best gasket to use for my scenario? I was considering using a cometic gasket hopefully something around a .030.

What is the thinnest head gasket I can buy without encountering PTV issues with a completely stock setup IE: Block and heads stock? Who makes them and where can I get them?

Thanks in advance!
Mike

More important is how high above the deck are the pistons. You want to keep the quench area at no less than .035. If you pistons are put .005 you would be ok but they vary from about .004 - .010.

Default Quench

Please define quench for me and how to measure how far out of the bore the piston comes. My guess is TDC then measure??? Then I can calculate that I need .035 "quench" so if i'm .005 out I need to have a head gasket of .040 in order to maintain the .035???

Please correct me if i'm wrong?

Default okay!

So ..... Why do you need .035 quench? I need to understand quench to grasp this .035 .... why can't I go .030 or .025 ?

Thank You!
