Default To go with stock GM L92's or Ported L92's?

So I'm going to be upgrading to some L92 heads for my Lq4 shortblock and just have a couple questions for you guys. My shortblock is stock, the cam is a 224/228 cam with a .6xx/.6xx lift and a 112 LSA. I am going to have to mill the heads along with a thinner head gasket to get my compression to 10.5:1 + . I am running 1 3/4" long tube headers along with a 90mm L92 intake manifold (truck). At what point is it worth putting ported heads on? If it's the difference of 10-20RWHP is it worth the extra $1200 for the cnc porting and upgraded valves with springs? I was thinking about what gains there would be if a guy got a set of stockers, just swapped springs and then bolted them on and ran. Has anyone done this? Did you like the results? I'm just up in the air if I should get ported L92's or stockers. I have the money for stockers now but I can't afford the ported ones at this time. What am I really leaving on the table by not going with ported L92's?

I have a 6.0 that I'm leaving the L92's stock since the cubes are low. On the bigger displacement that flow more air I'd get the port work done. Haven't run em yet though.

Do not port the heads with a 364ci bottom end-mill only.

You do know these heads come on an engine that is originallly bigger than the 6.0 right? i mean they are no 427, but still....

we are running a special on these at the moment as well. stock, fully assembled for $630 for the PAIR, plus shipping. L92s....we also have the LS3s...not for the same price tho.

if you wanna know just ask

I'm thinking I should just run stockers for now until the budget allows. Has anyone running the L92's on a LQ4 short block run into PTV clearance issues with milling?

My advice would be to get a list organized of everything you need for your install and talk to John@Scoggin who replied above. I have been working with him and his prices and customer service have been great. Just make sure you think of everything you will need for the install and order it all at once to save some time and money.
