Default LS7 Crank in LQ4 Block

Anyone here know if a ls7 crank will work in a lq4 block?? Would the ls7 crank being a dry sump crank work in a wet sump block?? Also the reluctor wheel of the ls7 is 54 I believe, and not sure what it is in the lq4. If they are different, can you change the reluctor wheels?? This will be going in a 06 Silverado. Thanks for any help.

The LS7 does have a 58x Reluctor wheel and the LQ4 has a 24x reluctor...They can be changed by a machine shop or you can use a convertor box. But the 06 Silverdao's computer should be for a 58x reluctor. The LS7 has a longer crank snout than other LS series engines to accomodate it's complex oil pump. The LQ4 crank probably has a wider rear flange due to the transmissions used. But the LS7 crank will not and you could use a spacer if need be. Also the LS7 can be converted to a wet sump system so yes to that one. Oh and of course the LS7 has a bigger stroke....

To use an LS7 crank in a wet sump application you need to machine the crank snout to the shorter dimension of the wet sump style engines.

Also, the crank would require re-balancing.

The '06 Silverados have a 24x reluctor since they were all Gen III engines.

My bad I thought they stopped making the GEN III in '05...So I was thinking the '06 Silvy would have a 58x type computer..

in my opinion to much would need to be changed/modified for it to work, 408 stroker kits are relatively cheap now, i would say go that route and save your self hastle and headache

Depends on how much he got the crank for. It's a factory FORGED piece. So if it was cheap enough, I would say it's a worthwhile swap.

Unless you stay with the LS7 rods it will be a nightmare to balance.
