Default Question about heads on an 02 Camaro SS i'm looking at.

Hey everybody it's been 3 years since I've owned my 2000 Ws6 and looking to buy another LS1 fobdy and I've found an 02 SS that the guy is the 2nd owner and original owner of the car put the regular bolt ons headers, ORY, lid etc. but he also said there are CNC 243 heads on the car but has a stock cam. I looked on CNC's website and their is no info on their heads. Anybody on here know anything about CNC's heads or why anybody would do heads and not a cam with it? Guy I am looking to buy from didn't do any of the work and has drove it for 2 years this way and knows nothing about motor work.

CNC is not a brand, it stands for Computer Numerical Control. CNC is used to guide the machines that do the cutting and shaping of the ports. It's any ones guess why it has heads but no cam. Maybe they were on sale, maybe the original ones broke, maybe the original ones are actually still on there...

How many miles and how much is he asking?

243 is the casting number. They are GM heads. Try to find out from the original owner what kind of heads they are. Patriot is a popular one but there many shops setting these heads up. Usually CNC'd heads are also fitted with larger valves, better springs etc. FWIW

This sounds like a nice ride. What color is it? I'd check it out, make sure it's getting good oil pressure, etc. You can point to the leaking rear diff and use that as leverage to talk him down a bit lol. I think you can get it for less. Economy is bad, he should jump at a chance to sell it.: Good luck

Thanks! It's black with the SLP black grille, I'll have to do that, I think if I'd show up with 13,500-14 or so he'd take it, he seemed like he'd be lenient on the price
